Show Notes

In this new episode of The Animashow, my guest Ahmed Guerrouache — director, character designer, and series creator — shares his multifaceted journey through the world of animation. From his early work on Atomic Betty and Sherlock Yack to co-creating and designing Marcus Level, Ahmed has gradually expanded his creative reach to directing full series. Most notably, he served as director on every season of Taffy, shaping its visual tone and comic rhythm from start to finish. Known for being called in at the very first stages of a project, Ahmed helps studios clarify their ideas, build strong character designs, and define narrative direction. In our conversation, he opens up about developing original projects (including one greenlit but paused due to the current crisis), storyboarding pilots, and recently working on cinematic game trailers for Supercell. With honesty and clarity, he reflects on the pitches that didn’t stick, the resilience it takes to create in this industry, and the belief that sometimes, the only way to make something happen is to build it yourself.
